The 2007 Southern Village Holiday 5K and Family Fun Run is scheduled for Sunday, December 9, 2007, and Harrington Bank is again Title sponsor. Growing in scope and with more prizes, activities and refreshments than ever, this years Holiday 5K has been created with the assistance of the Chapel Hill Service League. On June 9th, Southern Village developers sponsored a design charrette focusing on the village center. A follow-up presentation by the Durham Area Designers will be held on Thursday, September 6th at 5:30 pm in Room 4 of the Christ Church offices, 105 Market Street (not in the church itself). The Town of Chapel Hill has closed the bike path near Scroggs Elementary School for at least the next two months. The reason for this closure is to connect both the existing bike path and the water & sewer lines between Southern Village and the new Southern Community Park. The BOD minutes from the meeting held on July 18th are now available.
To encourage the development and use of solar resources the NC state legislature has passed a law allowing homeowners to install solar panels with fewer restrictions from local ordinance or HOA covenant.
