Community Feedback on SV Development
Over the past week, several comments have come to the SVHOA Board of Directors about how Southern Village residents can voice their opinions on the proposed new development for Market Street.
Please know the developer must take comments at the “concept plan review” from the Town Council and citizens of Chapel Hill. This is prior to an official application being made for development review. History suggests this early look at concepts has been helpful in shaping projects in a collaborative way. All residents are encouraged to participate.
The 1st meeting is the Community Design Commission, which is Wednesday, September 24th. The 2nd meeting is the Southern Village Concept Plan, which is tentatively scheduled for Monday, November 17th. Both meetings start at 7pm. Both meetings are at Town Hall at 405 Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
If you have questions please call the Town Clerk @ (919) 968-2743.

Southern Village Development
The Town has received a proposal from Southern Village Center, LLC for a Concept Plan Review for the Southern Village Center. The Concept Plan proposes to demolish an existing parking lot and construct a 6-story building with 90,000 square feet of floor area and underground parking. The proposed development is located in the parking island in the Southern Village Center surrounded by Market Street, Kildaire Road, and Aberdeen Street. A drop-off area and vehicle parking for 147 spaces is also proposed. Access to the parking area is proposed from all surrounding streets. The .9-acre site is located in the Neighborhood Commercial-Conditional (NC-C) zoning district. The site is identified as Orange County Parcel Identifier Number 9787-05-5432.

Cub Scouts Pack 283
Scouting is Great for Kids!
Sick of seeing your son in front of the TV, PSP, Wii or other mind-numbing techno device? Want him to make friends, to better understand the world around him and to become more self-sufficient? Looking for an outlet that gives you a chance to spend quality time and get to know your son? You need to find out what scouting has to offer!
Pack 283 is right here in Southern Village and if your son is between the 1st and 4th grade, and interested in scouting, we want you! Our organizational meeting is Thursday, September 4th at 7-8 PM at Christ United Methodist Church Hall. We will have games for the boys and will be distributing information, signing up new families and registering returning scouts. We plan for a $50 registration fee ($60 if your son wants Boy’s Life magazine). Please bring your checkbook. Scholarships are available for anyone who would like to participate but is not able to afford it and no boy who wishes to be involved will be unable to for financial reasons.
So come see your neighbors and find out what scouting is about. Look forward to seeing you there!
