Dog Waste

Please pick up after your dogs & keep us all healthy.

Pet waste left on sidewalks, in the road, or in grass near impervious surfaces will wash into storm drains without being treated.  The storm drains in Southern Village empty into local stormwater ponds, then enter Wilson Creek or Fan Branch, tributaries to Morgan Creek, all of which our children play in.

Bacteria that can case Campylobacteriosis, Salmonellosis and Leptospirosis, parasites such  as Giardia, roundworms, tapeworms and hookworms and viruses which are found in pet waste can be harmful to water quality and human health.

Please remember to carry bags with you on your dog walks to clean up after your furry friends, then dispose of the bags in your trash can.  You can double bag to reduce odors.  Please do not leave bags on the sidewalk or the grass for someone else to pick up.

Not only is picking up after your pooch the neighborly thing to do, it is the healthy thing to do.  Do it for yourself, for your neighbors and for all the Southern Village kids.  Thank you.
