On Thursday, October 7th at 7pm, representatives from the Chapel Hill Police Department will be meeting with members of the Southern Village Community Watch organization.
The meeting will be in Southern Village, at the Christ United Methodist Church, in Ascension Hall, in the main church building Residents of Southern Village who are interested are invited to attend the meeting and ask questions and participate in any discussions.
Meetings like these will be scheduled regularly to let the Community Watch Block Captains meet some of our Police Department members. Representatives from the Chapel Hill Police Department will be Captain Vereen and Officer Clark. Office Clark is our contact person for Southern Village.
This is an opportunity for others to meet our Police Department representatives personally and learn about their relations with our Community Watch process.

The next SVHOA Board of Directors Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, October 19th @ 7pm at 601 Brookgreen Drive. This meeting & all meetings of the HOA is open to the public. The 2011 Budgets will be discussed. Please consider coming out so your voice can be heard.
Highgrove & Westend Townhomes have ADT alarm systems. Westend Townhomes have two riser rooms located at 900 & 1000 Highgrove. Highgrove Townhomes have four riser rooms located at 124 Glade, 124 Nolen, 125 Nolen & 125 Westside.

On Saturday, September 25th at 9am, there will be a 5K race in Southern Village in Chapel Hill to benefit Safe Passage. Safe Passage is an US-based humanitarian organization dedicated to bringing hope and opportunity to the children of the Guatemala City garbage dump community. “Esperanza” is the Spanish word for “hope”, and during the month of September, communities around the world will run and walk together in friendship, hope and solidarity to support the children and families of Safe Passage.

The Chapel Hill Day Care Center in Southern Village has been selected as the Orange County 2010 site for the ‘Preventing Obesity by Design’ (POD) project! The school is now in the process of converting their playground to an outdoor learning environment that will promote increased physical activity for children and thus forestall the risk of childhood obesity.
To educate the public about this unique program and engage the community in volunteering to help with the POD initiative, the group is holding an informational meeting at Christ Church on Wednesday, September 15th from 6:00pm-8:00pm.
