Southern Village HOA

In the summer of 2014, the community engaged Bartlett Tree Experts to conduct an inventory and plan a care program for street trees and common area trees in Southern Village. The Bartlett Inventory Systems team completed this inventory in fall 2014. In March 2015, the Board selected Bartlett to carry out the recommended work. This work is scheduled to begin on Monday, May 4, 2015 and continue through winter.

Note, at present the current street tree care program covers all street trees located in front of detached (or, single family) homes, townhomes, courtyard homes & condos.  The only street trees that are not in scope for this project are those at Market Street Association (aka, the business district) & the Southern Village Apartments.

The Town of Chapel Hill just informed SVHOA that it will repave all of Brookgreen Drive tomorrow (Friday, April 24, 2015).  Please make sure you do not park your automobile on Brookgreen Drive tonight or tomorrow.  The Town is saying they will tow all automobiles.

The SVHOA manager’s report for March is now available.

The SVHOA Board of Directors will be having a special meeting on Thursday, March 26, 2015 at 600 Market Street, 1st Floor Conference Room @ 7pm.  This meeting is to discuss the street trees throughout Southern Village.  This meeting & all meetings of SVHOA is open to the public.  If you have any questions please e-mail bod@southernvillage.org.

At tonight’s SVHOA Annual General Meeting (AGM) 92 persons attended, either in person or by proxy.  There was one candidate nominated to the Board of Directors.  Susana Dancy ran unopposed & was elected to the Board of Directors, to serve a three year term.  Chris Richards, who was previously nominated, had decided to withdraw his name from nomination prior to the AGM.

Immediately following the AGM, the SVHOA Board of Directors meet & organized themselves as follows:  Rainer Dammers, President; Arun Kilara, Vice President; Phil Meyer Treasurer; Susana Dancy, Secretary & Cindy James, Member-at-large.

Finally, the Board decided to meet on the following dates: Tuesday, May 5, 2015 @ 6:30pm (at 600 Market Street, 1st Floor Conference Room) with future dates & locations of Board of Directors meetings being decided at the May meeting.  Also the next SVHOA AGM is set for Tuesday, February 16, 2016 @ 7pm (at Christ Church).
